Time to dust off the ole cobwebs on FTP. I want to preface this blog by saying I am in no way qualified to write about sports...especially basketball. I do not understand the in's and out's quite like some other sports; however, with the Dawgs dancing I thought I would give it a go. Below are 3 uneducated keys to the game. The tone will pay respects to the late, legendary Lewis Gizzard...

Well, folks, time to strap in and hold onto your britches - The University of Georgia is headed to the big dance for the first time since 2015. Unfortunately for the Dawgs, they got put into a tough seeding facing the Top 10 KenPom rated Gonzaga Bulldogs (9) in the first game. Getting put into a bad seeding is like pulling up to a barbecue joint and finding out they are out of ribs - aint nothing you can do about it but sip on some sweet tea and hope the other fella chokes on his chicken. Anyways, here are my 3 keys for the Dawgs to make a run...

  1. Silas Demary Jr. Needs to Grab the Keys and Burn Rubber

Silas needs to take the wheel for this team and mash on the gas leaving skid marks all over the hardwood. This aint no Sunday cruise with grandma - This. Is. March. Dawgs need their point guard to take the reins and start dropping buckets like a man possessed. Recently he's got eh quicks, the vision and a jumper slicker than a greased-up pig. Dawgs will need him to score like rents due and the landlord is knocking. When he is one, the dawgs have a chance against anyone.

  2. Blue Cain Keeping the Ball Tighter Than a Tick on a Hound

Blue at times has ice in his veins and can be an X factor, but if that's the case he needs to treat the ball like its the last biscuit at the dinner table. Turnovers? Can't hav'em. Just clean plays and cold trey. Same goes with the rest of the team.

  3. Asa Newell's Got to Go Full Mad Man

Asa, you big ole freshman phenom, it's time to play out of your ever-lovin, mind. I'm talking about rebounding like a rabid animal, swatting shots into the cheap seats, posterizing and making free throws. Time to turn into an unhinged freight train inside and outside the paint... do that and the whole state will be hollering your name.

The bottom line is that the dawgs have the players and have shown they can win. A very challenge feat to make a run, but just one win might make even the crankiest bulldog fan crack a smile.... Go Dawgs!
